Our specialty is craftsmanship, service, and communication. We have a strong interest in green building and LEED principles, and, wherever possible and practical, use environmentally sensitive and economically appropriate materials. Ultimately, we believe the greenest house is a house built to last.
The White Construction crew, a mix of talented men and women — supervisors, journeymen carpenters, and laborers — have been with the company for an average of ten years. The years of working together have resulted in a comfortable, efficient team, competent in every phase of custom home construction.
Our business is built on a foundation of integrity, craftsmanship, and positive relationships. We are team-builders who believe in schedules, good communication skills, paying on time, and insisting that the job be done right the first time. We have a keen interest and respect for design. Where practical, we prefer to support the island economy by employing local craftsmen.

Cost
The cost per square foot for a custom home varies with the amount of detail and complexity of the design and, to some degree, the challenges inherent in the building site. Some sites on Orcas Island are flat and fairly straight-forward to build on, and some are not. The steepness of the site, it’s rockiness, density of trees, and distance from utilities can all drive the cost of building. Over the years, we have found that White Construction’s prices are consistently competitive with other contractors of similar experience and quality.
